There has been a dramatic withdrawal from the women's time trial on Wednesday. 

Lithuania's previous World Champion, Dianne Zilute arrived in Athens, ready to ride the Road Race on Sunday only to find that she had been selected for the Time Trial, not the road race. 

Having prepared specifically for the road race, she declared that the selection of other riders fro the road race was a political move by the Lithuanian Olympic committee.

Zilute was so upset that she has refused to ride on Wednesday and has already left Greece.
