The excitement of the 2004 International Tour de 'Toona continued today as cyclists competed in the Hoss's Steak and Sea House Circuit Road Race in Martinsburg today. The stage is the fifth of seven in the Pennsylvania cycling classic, the largest stage race in the Americas.

Lyne Bessette maintained her overall lead in general classification points.

Tina Pic of Genesis Scuba Pro was the winner of today's women's stage, and was able to catch a breakaway with the help of her teammates.

"I didn't have to do that much, it was all my team," said the Georgian, "It's amazing when a team comes together like that."

Pic and her teammates led the charge on the last lap to catch Becky Broeder of Verizon Wireless, who had opened up a three minute lead on the third lap. Broeder was unable to hold the position by herself and finished :34 behind the lead group. Lynn Gaggioli of Velo Bella finished second while the Hershey Food's yellow jersey owner, Lyne Bessette of Quark Cycling, finished third. Bessette now leads Gaggioli by :11 overall.

Tina Pic was able to continue to hold a commanding lead for the women's Merrill Lynch sprint jersey by winning three sprints of the stage. Lynne Bessette is still in control of the PA Turnpike Queen of the Mountain red jersey.

Rona again has just a two second lead over Quark for the women's team GC lead,

Today also started the amateur cycling category races. Men's Categories 2,3 and 4 along with women's categories 3 and 4 competed in their first points race today. The points race differs from the stage race in that cyclists compete by points that they earn and not by their times. They also can race and earn points even if they do not compete every day.

In women's amateur action, the winners of the Category 3 race were Gretchen Jacobs of the Artemis team tied with Ma Klemperer-Johnson of Maxxis Spoke and then Sara LeGrand of Diet Cheerwine.

The Category 4 winners were Sinead Miller of AGH/Pactimo followed by Priscilla Pang of LSV/Kelly along with teammate Tammy Sadle.
