Calendar     Results Table

Following on from the excellent competition which ran throughout 2003, WomensCycling.net is proud to announce that a Northern Ireland League for road competition throughout 2004 will comprise 7 events. 

These are a mixture of road races, time trials and there is also a criterium (1 hour of racing on a 1km circuit) in the 2004 League. The winner from 2003 is the person to contact about 2004's competition - Mary McKee ( marymckee@cyclingulster.com )

Novices are particularly welcome. New participants will find that some of the events give assistance to more experienced and faster competitors by starting them off with a 'head-start' to give them a chance of getting to the finish line ahead of those with more experience. 

Final Honours To Mary Boyd

Mary Boyd (Roe Valley CC) took a four point lead into the final race and winning the sprint for 2^nd place was good enough to secure the overall 2004 league win. (Click here to see final race write-up)

After receiving her prize from Cycling Ulster’s Mary McKee she expressed her appreciation of her fellow competitors who had raced hard through the entire series to make the final race the decider.  She went on to say “The number of women now competing regularly, and to such a high standard, is confirmation of just how strong women’s cycling racing in Ulster since the league was first run two seasons ago.”  She also went on to thank the numerous supporters and helpers who have contributed in so many ways to ensuring that women’s racing has had the opportunity to thrive and develop and to express the riders’ appreciation for this.
