Commonwealth Youth Games 2004 - Bendigo, Victoria, Australia

The first Commonwealth Youth Games are held in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2000. Australia successfully bid to host the 2004 Games. Bendigo is in the north of Victoria, the state in the South East of Australia. The state's capital city is Melbourne. The whole of Victoria is familiar with hosting international cycling events, such as the men's Herald Sun Tour in October, which is a state-wide tour and the Geelong World Cup for women in January as well as the Geelong Tour. Of course, Melbourne hosted the World Track Championships in May 2004.

Cycling is included in the games for the first time in Bendigo. There will be a time trial, road race and mountainbike (MTB) event as well as a track programme. The events take place over the four days of the games, starting with the Time Trial on Tuesday morning and finishing with the track finals on Friday evening.

Events are all close to the Games Village - La Trobe University, Bendigo Campus. The track events will take place at the Tom Flood Sports Centre.
