Diana Ziliute (Team Acca Due) won the Women's World Cup "Rund um die Nürnberger Altstadt" event in Germany. She won the sprint, ahead of over 70 riders credited with the same time, she beat German rider Regina Shleicher and Farm Frites rider Arenda Grimberg into second and third respectively.  Defending World Cup champion, Petra Rossner from Equipe Nürnberger Versicherung, was hindered by a near-crash 800m from the finish and sprinted to 8th place in front of her home fans; this puts her into 5th place overall in the World Cup standings with one race left. She cannot, however win, Nicole Cooke's 5th placed in the event was enough to secure 2003 World Cup victory.

The event was run off at over 40km/h, with repeated breakaway attempts over the 117km course.
