On a warm, sunny morning, 45 riders rolled out of Crowhurst Village Hall (HQ) to contend 7 and 3/4 laps of the Crowhurst Circuit. There was a rising headwind on the long straight road to the Red Barn pub. This, along with the two sharp hills which sap strength on the tailwind side of the circuit made for a heavy day of racing. The race time despite this was 2hrs 23 minutes 13 seconds. 

The first lap saw everyone together, although the first time through the finish line, over the hill saw the first of several small groups go out of the back. The race actually lasted 2 laps before the pressure went on and two distinct bunches, with a clear gap between each were formed. Some riders spent a bit of time in between the groups and others took time to join up and work together.

Meanwhile, at the front, Yorkshire's Sarah Gill, Team Luciano and the East Midlands team were evidently working hard to shape the race. Their efforts did not result in any further splits to the group, but did mean that the first group finished over 4 minutes ahead of the following group. In an exciting uphill sprint, Dianne Moss took the victory from Helen Gutteridge (who won Team Series 2 a fortnight ago), with Heather Summer 3rd. Mary Boyd led the sprint for the second group at 04"21.
