TEUTENBERG
TAKES THE STAGE, JEANSON STAYS IN YELLOW
Canadian
Geneviève Jeanson of the RONA/Esker cycling team kept her yellow jersey and her
more than 6-minute lead over her fellow Canadian Manon Jutras, of Team Saturn,
at the Redlands Bicycle Classic, held 100 km east of Los Angeles.
Saturn’s Ina Teutenberg won The Beaver Medical criterium and her second
stage of the week. Teutenberg broke
away five laps from the finish, along with RONA/Esker’s Catherine Marsal. Teutenberg won the sprint.
Diet Rite’s Tina Mayolo-Pic of the United Sates finished third.
In
general classification, Jeanson now has a 6’ 05” priority over Manon Jutras,
and 6’08” over Saturn’s Lyne Bessette.
Tomorrow’s
100-km stage, the last of the race, is anything but a formality.
The riders will have to climb the hard, 2 km-long Sunset Hill eight
times. There a a few good battles
left among the women who want to make the final podium.
