As the World Cup moved to Europe, Northern Hemisphere riders dominated the top ten on the results list. Perhaps the climate suited them better? The course was tough - the final section being the same route as that used for the men's Milan San Remo.
Breakaways throughout the race made very little impression on the bunch and it wasn't until eventual winner Zoulfia Zabirova broke away that there seemed any danger from such moves. With a maximum time gap on the bunch of less than 1 minute, Zabirova stayed away for 30km. At the finish, she was just over half a minute up on the chasers. An unfortunate crash in the last 2km ended the race for World Champion Susanne Ljungskog, when she was hit by another rider who swerved off line.
Zabirova finished 34 seconds up on 2nd place Regina Schleicher, with Rochelle Gilmore third.
