KAREN BOCKEL PLACES EIGHTH IN GERMAN ROAD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Spalt, Bavaria
102km
Team
RONA/Esker’s Karen Bockel finished in eighth place in the German Women’s
Road Championship held yesterday in Spalt, Bavaria.
Young Trixi Worrack of Équipe Nürnberger
won the race, outsprinting her four breakaway companions.
Bockel
finished second in the field sprint, crossing the line 5’28” behind the
winner. The course was very tough
as the women had to complete two difficult climbs in each of the seven 14.6
loops.
With
no team support Bockel fought hard all day to stay at the front.
“I’m disappointed”, she said, “I was going with all the moves
except the one that stuck.” Trixi
Worrack launched the decisive attack with two laps to go.
