SPANISH TOUR CANCEL BLIGHTS SOMARRIBA
Top Spanish rider Joane Somarriba has seen her plans go crashing after it was announced that the proposed national stage race has been cancelled. She was talking to Sabeco who would have expected good publicity in the Veulta but it seems that this has fallen through with the non running of the stage race. After claiming the Bronze Medal in the World's road race, Joane was awarded 36,000 Euro's by ADO and it looks that this will be her only income for the current season; although she will be contacting other teams, with the shortage of money in the women's scene, it might be difficult to get into a team.
Somarriba wants to continue in cycling that will lead her up the Olympic Games in Athens in three years time.
