Sweden honours its top riders

A major sponsor in years past of Swedish cycling, Postgirot Bank also sponsor the sports awards ceremony and in this years edition cycling took its share of the spoils.

Anna Enocsson took the award for the best female MTB rider with her wins in the cross country national championships and the time trial; Anna has signed to join the German Team Meirda.

The best female road rider was of course Susanne Ljungskog, her second award in a week for her outstanding performance in the world road race championship, she was elected in front of top athletes.

Susanne is now the number rider in the world and she took the opportunity to announce the team that she will be joining in 2003; Aliverti-Catalunya will be the chosen team who will be competing in all the World Cup races and taking the burden of being their main rider Susanne said "I have chosen the team as they have a great race programme for the next few years and except for Australia, they will ride all the World Cup events plus the Tour de France and the Vuelta".

"I would like to win the Tour de France and with the good atmosphere in the team I know that I will be well supported, we will be based in Tuscany and my partner Klas has also been offered a job in the management of the team so I am very pleased".
